How to change units (Metric/Imperial, Currency) 📏

Vanlife takes you across borders, which often means dealing with different currencies and measurement systems.

Vanlife Assistant intelligently separates your physical measurement units (like weight and distance) from your financial currency, allowing you to completely customise how the app displays your data.

⚖️ Changing Measurement Units (Metric vs. Imperial)

Your global unit system affects everything in the app, including vehicle odometers (Miles vs. Kilometres), fuel volume (Litres vs. Gallons), and the weight of your Crew members (Kg vs. Lbs) for payload calculations.

1. Open the Settings tab.
2. Scroll down and tap on General.
3. Under the Units section, use the segmented control to select either Metric or Imperial.
4. The change is instant across the entire app.

💷 Changing your Home Currency

While you can log individual transactions in any local currency while travelling, the app’s Forecasting Engine and Dashboard need a single “Base” currency to consolidate your Net Worth and Runway. 👉 See Currency and Sync.

1. Open the Settings tab.
2. Tap on Money to open the Money Settings gateway.
3. Under the Forecasting Engine section, locate Home Currency.
4. Tap the picker and select your base currency (e.g., GBP, EUR, USD, CAD, AUD).

Note: Changing your Home Currency here does not automatically convert all your past transactions. It simply tells the forecasting engine which currency symbol and baseline to use for its long-term projections.

🎨 Customising the App Theme Colour

While you are in the General settings menu, you can also completely customise the visual theme of Vanlife Assistant!

• Use the Theme picker to force Light Mode, Dark Mode, or follow your System settings.
• Use the App Theme Colour picker to change the accent colour of all buttons, icons, and charts in the app to match your van’s aesthetic!
