We built Vanlife Assistant to handle these transitions silently in the background, so you can focus on the view instead of the math.
💱 The Currency “Oracle”
Section titled “💱 The Currency “Oracle””When you’re Wild camping in the mountains of Norway or grabbing a coffee in Morocco, you shouldn’t have to manually look up exchange rates.
- Automated Detection: When you start a new entry, the app uses your location to suggest the local currency automatically.
- The Exchange Rate Oracle: The app has a dedicated “Oracle” that remembers the rates you use. If you manually enter an exchange rate for a purchase in Euros today, the app will remember that rate for the rest of your trip, ensuring your Daily Burn Rate stays consistent even when you’re offline.
- Home vs. Foreign: Everything in the app is ultimately calculated in your Home Currency. This ensures your money dashboard is always comparing “apples to apples,” no matter how many different currencies you’ve spent that month.
☁️ Seamless iCloud Sync
Section titled “☁️ Seamless iCloud Sync”Your financial life shouldn’t be trapped on a single device. Whether you’re logging a fuel stop on your iPhone or deep-diving into your 10-year plan on your iPad, your data stays perfectly in sync.
- SwiftData Integration: The app uses the latest Apple technology to securely sync your ledger, accounts, and Milestones across all your devices using your private iCloud account.
- Offline First: We know vanlife takes you off the grid. You can add transactions, edit scenarios, and manage your van’s manifest while completely offline. The second you hit a pocket of 4G or find a cafe with Wi-Fi, the app will silently merge your changes with the cloud.
- Privacy by Design: Because we use iCloud, your data is encrypted and private to you. We never see your bank balances, your location history, or your travel plans.
🛡️ Data Integrity

- Automatic Backups: Every time your device performs a system backup, your Vanlife Assistant database is included.
- Spreadsheet Peace of Mind: For the ultimate backup, we always recommend using the CSV Export feature once a month to keep a hard copy of your history on your laptop or external drive.
