Managing The Crew and Fleet Manager
Managing The Crew and Fleet Manager 🚐
Section titled “Managing The Crew and Fleet Manager 🚐”Vanlife Assistant is designed to manage the lives of everyone in your van, not just the driver. The top section of your Settings menu is dedicated to managing your physical vehicles and the people (or animals) travelling in them.
🧑🤝🧑 The Crew (Traveller Passports)
Section titled “🧑🤝🧑 The Crew (Traveller Passports)”At the very top of Settings, you will see a scrolling list of your Crew. Every member gets their own digital “Vanlife Passport”, complete with a photo and vital statistics.
How to add a new Crew Member:
- Tap the + New Member avatar in the Settings hub.
- Fill in their details:
- Name & Role: e.g., “Navigator” or “Chief Dishwasher”.
- Citizenship: Select their home country. The app will automatically generate the correct national flag on their passport view.
- Type & Species: Select Human or Pet / Other. If you select Pet, you can specify their species (Dog, Cat, Budgie, or type a custom one!) and the app will assign them a distinct paw-print badge on the dashboard.
- Weight: Crucial for safety! Entering the weight of your crew allows the Manifest engine to accurately calculate your vehicle’s payload limits. 👉 See Understanding the Payload Heatmap.
- Add a Photo: Tap the camera icon on the empty passport photo slot. You can select an image from your camera roll, and the app includes a built-in cropping tool to ensure the photo fits perfectly into the 4:5 passport ratio.
The Personal Glovebox Link: Once a crew member is saved, a large blue button will appear at the bottom of their passport. This links directly to their personal Glovebox container, where you can store their medical cards, visas, and IDs. 👉 See How to securely store vehicle and travel documents.
🚐 Fleet Manager
Section titled “🚐 Fleet Manager”Just below The Crew sits the Fleet Manager. If you own multiple vehicles (e.g., a primary campervan, a tow vehicle, or a weekend camper), you can manage them all here.
- Tap the Fleet Manager card to open the vehicle editor.
- From here, you can switch your “Active Van” (the vehicle the app is currently tracking).
- You can also update your vehicle’s Registration plate, VIN, log maintenance tasks, and check its overall health status.
