Check-in Services and Journaling
📝 Check-in Services and Journaling
Section titled “📝 Check-in Services and Journaling”Overview
Section titled “Overview”A Check-in is more than just a pin on a map; it is your personal travel diary and a database of vanlife logistics. The Check-in Editor provides specialised tools to help you remember the practical details of a park-up, as well as the stories that happened there.
The Full-Screen Journal Editor
Section titled “The Full-Screen Journal Editor”While the standard Check-in screen has a small text box for quick notes, vanlife often inspires longer stories.
If you want to write a detailed diary entry about the incredible sunset or the funny local you met:
- Tap the Expand icon (the small arrows pointing outward) located right next to the “Journal entry” text box.
- This opens the full-screen Journal Editor.
- Type as much as you want without the screen feeling cramped, then hit Done to save it to the Check-in.
Logging Services (The Facility Grid)
Section titled “Logging Services (The Facility Grid)”When you find a great free Aire or a paid campsite, you want to remember exactly what they offered so you can find it again in the future.
Under the “Services” section, you can toggle:
- Electricity: Tap once for “Free” (Orange Bolt), tap again for “Paid” (Solid Circle Bolt).
- Water (Blue Drop)
- Toilets (Pink) & Showers (Teal)
- Laundry (Light Blue)
- Waste: Both Grey Waste (Spigot) and Black Waste (Arrow pointing down)
- Trash/Bins (Green)
Pro-Tip: Because these are saved as hard data points, you can use the global search bar on your Unified History Map later and type “Grey Waste” to instantly filter your map to only show previous stops where you could empty your tanks!
Cost Metadata
Section titled “Cost Metadata”While your actual financial budget is handled in the Money Module, you can add “Cost Metadata” directly to a Check-in.
This is purely for informational purposes (e.g., “This campsite cost €25/night”). It does not deduct money from your active budget, but it ensures that when you look back at this Check-in two years from now, you know exactly how much you paid to stay there.
